Emily Griffin is a Certified Ayurveda Practitioner recommended and screened by Holistic Health Collaborative for her expertise in Ayurvedic Medicine. I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200-hour, Vinyasa Power Yoga), Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, Holistic Health Practitioner and a certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant. I continue my study of yoga through workshops and trainings with Boston and San Francisco based teachers. My goal is to work with individuals to overcome imbalances and maintain health through diet, lifestyle and yoga.
Vinyasa yoga is truly a practice that builds a strong and healthy body while calming the mind and encouraging awareness. The practice of yoga and meditation has challenged me both physically and mentally. After beginning my practice I began to notice differences not only in my physical body but also in my life off of my yoga mat. I felt stronger and calmer – I became more present, gained the ability to let go more easily and became extremely aware of my body. I began to find a space where my body and mind could be still and quiet. I describe my yoga classes and teaching style as a smooth, balanced flow that is challenging and mindful with great focus on breath while maintaining proper alignment.
I stumbled upon Ayurveda after quite a few years of struggling with digestive disorders; I saw numerous doctors at major hospitals and none of them were able to help me. Ayurveda is really the first piece of ‘nutritional wisdom’ that truly helped me. It just made sense. It was custom fit for my body and shifted as the seasons and my lifestyle changed. What would make more sense than that? I realized how beneficial this ancient system could be to so many others so I decided to study the science of Ayurveda through Kripalu’s school of Ayurveda and currently have a practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I also love spreading Ayurveda throughout yoga studios in Boston, Massachusetts and Portland, Maine.
Once I found these two incredible practices, I knew I had to share them with others. I think it is essential each person find their own balance so he/she can feel their best. I am excited to use the power of yoga and Ayurveda to help each individual a lead well balanced and healthy life.
HOW AYURVEDA CAN HELP!
Ayurveda can effectively help combat common imbalances such as IBS, PMS, weight management, insomnia, complexion issues, stress management, cold/ cough/ congestion, and more. It can be of great help if the imbalance is already occurring but it also works as a preventative measure. Together, we can work to correct imbalances while taking into consideration the physical, mental and emotional parts of the body.
